The World of Triathlon
"You're a triathlete? So you compete in the Ironman?...."
The world of triathlon can be confusing at the best of times, so many different competitions, categories and styles of events. From Ironman, 70.3, Super-league triathlon, Olympic distances, Mixed Teams Relay to Meet-bix Kids! No wonder we get confused!
So a little background to what I pursue...
Currently, I train and compete in the ITU World Triathlon Elite Series Circuit. (Much shorter than Ironman's!) This entails a mixture of Olympic Distances, Sprint distances and Mixed Teams Relay events, and has 8 stops around the world. Here's a small break down;
Olympic Distance: 1500m Swim, 40km Cycle, 10km Run
Sprint Distance: 750m Swim, 20km Cycle, 5km Run
Mixed Team Relay: A 4 x ( 300m Swim, 7.5 km Cycle, 1.5 km run) where each athlete completes the swim bike run before tagging the next athlete, with the order of the athletes always being female, male, female, male.

Still Confused?...
